Grant from DODD Awarded to We Care Arts

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities has awarded We Care Arts a grant in the amount of $10,301 for the Employment Quality Readiness Project as part of the Blueprint for Adult Day and Employment Services proposal. The goal of this project is to develop quality Employment Services including Career Planning and Individual Employment Supports for individuals with developmental disabilities, and incentivize and reward job placement in competitively integrated roles in the community, and foster long-term job retention as a result of graduation from support services. The expected outcome is competitive integrated employment in a job well-matched to the individual’s interests, strengths, priorities, and abilities that will meet the individual’s personal and career goals.

Funds for this program are an investment from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), and will be used to provide training, professional development and technology for providers and participants of Employment Services, such as those provided by We Care Arts in the gift shop at Town and Country.

“We are so excited to be able to increase support for the individuals in our Employment Services program, and add new opportunities to incorporate the use of technology in our program to teach skills in job searching, resume building, and computer skills in addition to the hard and soft skills we teach in our retail setting. These funds will set our program, and program participants up for long term success.” – Carlette Jewell, Director of Programming
