April: Letter From The Executive Director

Dear Friends of We Care Arts,

Some may say that April Showers brings May flowers. . . but I am thrilled to announce that April Showers this year has brought the release of our 2023 Annual Report, highlighting an extraordinary year of growth, achievement, and impact. As we reflected on 2023, it was clear that our community’s support and dedication have been instrumental in our success.

As We Care Arts celebrated its 40th anniversary, we were reminded of the vision of our founder, Terry Schalnat. Terry’s dream of creating an inclusive space where art could empower, and your on-going support truly has driven our mission forward.

Our annual report highlights the significant milestones reached in 2023, showcasing a period of rebuilding and growth following the challenges of the global pandemic. Among our achievements reported were a 41% increase in ArtWORKS services, a 33% expansion in classroom capacity, a 25% rise in distributing Transition to Work art kits to schools, a 50% increase in Outreach Services, as well as the development of an Annual Curriculum helping us to move towards educational standards.

These accomplishments are a testament to the collective power of our community and the transformative potential of art. As you explore our annual report, I encourage you to see beyond the numbers – take a moment to appreciate the talent of our artist-clients, the dedication of our instructors, and the art that flourishes in our community.

As we look ahead to 2024 and beyond, we are reminded of the critical importance of maintaining our momentum and expanding our reach. Your continued support enables us to build upon our successes, providing vital programs and services to those in need.

I invite you to dive into our 2023 Annual Report and witness the impact of your generosity firsthand. Together, let’s celebrate our achievements and reaffirm our commitment to shaping a brighter future through the power of art and community in 2024 and across the next 40 years.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Katie Neubert
