A Step Forward For Our Programs

We are thrilled to announce that our organization has recently been awarded three prestigious grants, which will significantly enhance our ability to serve the We Care Arts community of artist-clients. These grants, totaling $34,900, will support our Transition to Work and Artworks programs. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Fred & Alice Wallace Charitable Foundation, The Dayton Foundation, and the City of Kettering for their generous contributions.

Fred & Alice Wallace Charitable Foundation: $10,000 for Transition To Work Program

The Fred & Alice Wallace Charitable Foundation has awarded us a $10,000 grant to support our Transition To Work program. Transition To Work (TTW) programs are in-school programs established by the state. Special needs teachers provide instruction for students between the ages of 16 and 22 to prepare them for employment and a level of independent living after graduation from high school. We Care Arts supplements their experience by providing weekly art classes that reinforce crucial life and job skills at no cost to the student, school, or district. WCA provides individual bags with all needed art supplies for all projects for each student in the class as well as the teacher bag. There are also corresponding YouTube instructional video links provided for each of the art projects in each kit. WCA currently serves twenty schools in five counties with the TTW program and is looking forward to further expansion and growth. In 2023 this program provided nearly 400, 10-week art kits each semester to schools across the Greater Miami Valley. This amounted to over 3,810 art projects!

This grant will enable us to expand our services, reach more individuals, and create new partnerships with local schools.

The Dayton Foundation Basic Human Needs Grant: $7,500

We are also honored to receive a $7,500 grant from The Dayton Foundation  Basic Human Needs grant. This program addresses the most fundamental needs of individuals and families in our community. With this grant, we will be able to provide immediate assistance to those facing hardships, ensuring that they have access to essential resources. The Dayton Foundation's support will help us stabilize lives and create a foundation for long-term well-being.

City of Kettering: $17,400 for Artworks

The City of Kettering has generously awarded us a $17,400 grant for Artworks.  This grant will enable We Care Arts to maintain and enhance the quality of services we provide to our artist-clients. These resources will help us offer a stable and inspiring environment where our artist-clients can thrive and continue to grow both personally and artistically.

We are incredibly grateful for the trust and support of the Fred & Alice Wallace Charitable Foundation, The Dayton Foundation, and the City of Kettering. These grants will empower us to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those we serve.

As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of improving the quality of life for our artist-clients with developmental disabilities, substance abuse disorders and mental health diagnoses.
